Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. I hope everyone has had a relaxing spring break. This week school resumes on Monday, April 13th. On Monday, we will be having our National Honor Society induction ceremony at 6:00pm. On Tuesday progress reports will go home, and we will be having a career fair for our juniors and seniors. There will be two sessions, one during 1st period, and a second during 3rd period. We will not have our flex period on Tuesday to accommodate this opportunity for our students. Prom tickets go on sale this week, Tuesday through Thursday, during lunch. Several students still have fees that must be paid before you can purchase your prom ticket. Tickets are $40 each, and the prom will be Saturday, April 25th at Luna Trail. This Thursday, Friday and Saturday our Theater Department will be performing their spring musical "Newsies" in the South Stokes Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at www.stokesarts.org. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $7 for students. This Friday seniors will have Cap and Gown pictures in the main gym. The pictures will be in the morning and should finish around lunch. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Leah Rierson, Trinity Simmons, Kaylee Christian. These students were a big help on the field trip to the Greensboro Science Center by making sure our EC students had a great time. These kids take pride in their selves and were willing to help wherever it was needed . Thank you Leah, Trinity, and Kaylee, for your kindness and leadership. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Braxston Hall. Braxston has been working hard on his assignments. He also showed respect when welcoming a classroom speaker, engaging thoughtfully in conversation and asking questions that reflected strong, positive social skills. On Thursday we will have make up testing for the ACT and this Saturday our Athletic Boosters club $10,000 cash reverse raffle, the club's biggest fundraising event is March 28th. Tickets are $100, and will get you a dinner for two and entrance into the reverse raffle. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Rebecca Castellano and Alyssa Underwood. Alyssa and Rebecca are dedicated to supporting the JROTC program and our local community. On numerous occasions, and on short notice, they volunteered to support various events, upholding the values of the JROTC program. Thank you Rebecca and Alyssa, for your kindness and leadership. The Juniors have done a great job during our ACT prep sessions, we know they will do a good job on the test. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. On Monday we will have Homeroom after 2nd period in order to prepare students for our Annual Saura March Madness Attendance Challenge. Homerooms will go head to head this month seeing which homeroom will have the best attendance each week. Monday night there will an Athletic Boosters meeting in the cafeteria at 6:30, where they will be discussing the $10,000 cash reverse raffle, the club's biggest fundraising event. The Cash Draw down is right around the corner, or March 28th. Tickets are $100, and will get you a dinner for two and entrance into the reverse raffle. This Wednesday we will be having our Spring Blood Drive at South Stokes. We need your help to make sure the Red Cross has the blood it needs to help our community. This Friday, March 13th, is the end of the 3rd quarter. We will be having Saura PRIDE Flex again this week as our Juniors complete their last round of ACT prep for the test next week. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Caitlin Mulrooney & Aliza Bullins. Both girls stayed after school (on a Friday no less) to help organizing and inventory all of the prom supplies from years past. They ended up staying for an hour and a half and were so helpful! Thank you Caitlin and Aliza, for your kindness and leadership. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. This week is Spread the Word Week at South Stokes. The South Stokes Club Unify is sponsoring this spirit week of inclusion for students with disabilities, with Spread the Word/ National Inclusion Day on March 4th. This week, as well as when South Stokes hosts the Special Olympics in May, are some of the ways our students and faculty are embracing a call to action for inclusion. We will be having our Flex period this week. On Tuesday South Stokes will serve as a polling site for the March 3rd Primary Election. The voting location will be in the Fire Tech classroom in the Technology and Industry Building at the back of the main parking lot. To accommodate parking for voting, students that park on the last 2 rows of the parking lot will need to park in the back parking lot on Tuesday. If the student has an oversize vehicle, they can park in the side lot with other larger vehicles. If your child has a question about parking, they should come to the front office and we will make sure they know where to park. Tuesday night is Curriculum Night at South Stokes. At this annual event we welcome our rising 9th grade students to South Stokes for an information fair about the different classes we offer. The event begins in the cafeteria at 6:00 pm. On Wednesday, students that signed up will be going to UNC-G to attend the Opera. Join us this Saturday, March 7th for Bingo Night at South Stokes! The games begin at 6:00 pm, and tickets can be pre-ordered at school Cash Online, the link can be found on our Facebook post and school home page. Registration for the next Driver's Education class is open through March 6th. The classes are March 16th-23rd and the class roster will be posted on March 9th. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Emily Moore. Emily is involved in JROTC and joined the public at the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics helping raise money for EC students. Congratulations also goes to our Men's Basketball team on advancing to the 4th round of the State tournament. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. This week is FFA Week at South Stokes. This week our students will celebrate the Future Farmers of America, one of our largest student organizations. This week we will begin our Saura PRIDE Flex period as we gear up for the ACT on March 19th and the 4th quarter. We will be having our Flex period on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. On Wednesday, select students will be taking the WorkKeys, CCRAA 11, & NC Extend 1 assessments. Also on Wednesday we will be having a School Improvement Team meeting in room D3, after school. Good luck to our Quiz Bowl team as they compete this Saturday, February 28th. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Izabella Guessford. Izabella is a phenomenal student who takes pride in her work and always stays on top of her game! She is a strong advocate for herself and her learning! . Thank you Izabella, for your kindness and leadership. This week in Saura Sports, Congratulations to Saura wrestlers Sawyer Scott, Linkin Vanrijsewijk and Wyatt Tilley on their performances at the State Wrestling Tournament. Wyatt placed 3rd in the state, and Linkin placed 4th in their respective weight classes. Congratulations also goes to our Men's Basketball team on achieving their 5th consecutive Conference Championship. On Tuesday, girls basketball will host South Stanley in the first round of the state playoffs at 7:00pm. On Wednesday baseball and soccer travel to Bethany Community as we begin our spring sports season. Outside date forms can be picked up in the office. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Chloe Adams. Chloe organized and carried out a clothing drive to support our community in need. This week in Saura Sports, Congratulations to Saura Indoor Track athlete Jamier Davis on finishing 5th in the triple jump and 9th in the long jump at the state championship for indoor track. on Monday basketball is at Chatham Central, and will be at Chatham Central again this week on Thursday for the Conference Tournament. Congratulations to Saura wrestlers Wyatt Tilley, Sawyer Scott, and Linkin VanRijsewijk on the great job they did at regionals. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. I hope all of our Saura families are staying safe and warm as we still are dealing with the aftermath of these winter storms. There are still a small number of roads that our buses will not be able to travel down or turn around on. I encourage parents of students who drive to school to ride with your student drivers to assess the road conditions of your neighborhoods. If you are unable to bring your child to school or it is unsafe to travel on your road, any weather related absences will be excused and tardies to school will not be counted. This week we are celebrating our Sweetheart Court with Sweetheart Spirit Week. Monday is Don’t sweat the small stuff (pajama day/sweat suits. Tuesday is Red Flags day, Wednesday is Perfect Pair Day, Thursday is Wear your status Day ( white-single, pink- complicated, red-taken) and Friday is Oldies Day. Tomorrow, progress reports will be coming home and there will be an Athletic Boosters Meeting at 6:30. On Wednesday, we will be having FAFSA Night at South Stokes from 5:30 - 7:00. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Hadley Cigliano. Hadley demonstrated kindness and sportsmanship by noticing a swimmer from another team who was upset at a meet. She took the initiative to approach her, offering comfort and support before the swimmer competed in her event. Her compassion reflects strong character and respect for others, both in and out of competition. Thank you Hadley, for your kindness and leadership. Hey Saura families, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with a quick update from South Stokes. Due to the school closings from the weather, we will be rescheduling some of our planned school events and athletic contest. The Winter Formal has been moved from this Saturday to February 21st. FAFSA Night has been rescheduled from tonight to next Wednesday, 2/11th 5:30-7:00. The State wrestling duals tournament has been postponed to next week, as well as the indoor track state championship. The basketball games scheduled for tonight against South Davidson has been rescheduled for next Thursday, 2/12. Stay safe and stay warm and as always, Go Sauras.

I hope all of our Saura families are staying safe, warm, and enjoying the snow!. We have used the last remote learning days, please make sure students have completed their assignments from last week.
