🙏✨ Students gathered this morning for Meet Me at the Pole. We are grateful to Clinton Federicks from Freedom Baptist Church for sharing an encouraging message with our Vikings. 💚

Students came together to lift up our school, community, and nation—showing the power of faith, unity, and student leadership. 🌎🙌

We are so proud of our young people for taking a stand, supporting one another, and showing that faith can be a guiding light in their lives. 💡

💡💵 Learning has never been this fun! Mr. Wise’s class turned Monopoly into a hands-on lesson in Economics & Personal Finance.

Students weren’t just rolling dice—they were making smart moves, tough choices, and celebrating wins, all while discovering that every play has a financial lesson behind it. 🎲✨

👉 Just look at the pictures! Some students were deep in thought, weighing big investments… others celebrated their smart money moves with big smiles 👍… and everyone left the game with these 5 powerful takeaways:
1️⃣ Always keep cash on hand
2️⃣ Be patient
3️⃣ Focus on cash flow
4️⃣ The most expensive asset is not always the best
5️⃣ Don’t put all your eggs in one basket

From buying property to collecting rent, our Vikings proved that financial literacy can be exciting, competitive, and unforgettable! 🙌

🌟🌮 Hard work pays off! 🌮🌟

Mr. Vernon and Ms. Clifton celebrated our school’s achievements with a special taco luncheon for teachers. These accomplishments reflect the tireless dedication of our teachers and the determination our students show each day in the classroom. Every achievement our school makes happens when students and teachers work side by side, pushing each other to reach the same goal. 💪📚

This celebration is a reminder that success doesn’t just happen—it’s earned through perseverance, teamwork, and the shared commitment of our Viking family. 💚💚💚

⚖️🌎 Mr. Wise’s World History students took on history in a whole new way this week through a mock trial of Christopher Columbus and colonization in the Caribbean.

Students became the voices of Columbus, his men, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, the Taíno natives, and even the system of empire. Each group prepared their arguments, gathered evidence, and presented their case to the “court.”

The energy in the classroom was high as students questioned one another, defended their positions, and worked hard to prove who they believed was most responsible for the tragedies of colonization.

This hands-on activity gave our students the chance to step into history, sharpen their debate skills, and see how complex history can be when multiple perspectives are considered. 📚🔥

✨ The Fellowship of Christian Students met today, and we were blessed to hear from Neal Marshall, who shared an inspiring message titled “Stand Up and Stand Firm.” His words encouraged our students to live with boldness, faith, and integrity—especially in the hallways and classrooms where their influence matters most.

Christian youth have the incredible opportunity to shape the culture of their high school. By choosing kindness over cruelty, respect over ridicule, and truth over trends, students can become lights that shine in a world that often needs hope and encouragement. One student’s courage to live differently can spark change in others, creating a ripple effect that touches friends, teachers, and even the wider community.

As Neal reminded us, standing firm in faith isn’t always easy, but it is always powerful. Today’s gathering was more than just a meeting—it was a reminder that this generation of students has the potential to leave a lasting impact on their school through the way they live, love, and lead.

Our Foods 1 students turned the kitchen into a French café today as they made authentic French crêpes! 🥞 Students practiced their cooking techniques, learned how to swirl the batter just right, and showed amazing teamwork as they experimented with sweet and savory creations.

From warm crêpes topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream to rich flavors like chocolate drizzle, Nutella, and powdered sugar, every plate was a masterpiece. Some even tried savory fillings like cheese and ham for a true taste of France. 🧀🍫🍓

This hands-on experience let students be creative, adventurous, and proud of what they could make from scratch. Not only did it taste amazing, but it also brought out their confidence in the kitchen! ✨

📜🇺🇸 Happy Constitution Week! 🇺🇸📜

This week we celebrate the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787—the document that established the foundation of our nation’s government and protects the freedoms we enjoy today.

Students will be learning about the importance of the Constitution, its history, and the rights it guarantees for every citizen. Let’s take time to honor this cornerstone of democracy and reflect on the values that unite us as Americans.

✨ “We the People…” begins a story that continues with each generation. ✨

Subject: Update on PowerSchool Data Breach and Ongoing Protection Measures Dear Stokes County Families, We want to make you aware of a recent update related to the PowerSchool data breach that was originally reported in January of this year. Recently, several schools and North Carolina Department of Pubic Instruction (NCDPI) employees across the state received messages from threat actors claiming to have access to student and teacher data from that breach. We have been informed that several Canadian school districts have received similar messages as well. Based on the current status of NCDPI’s investigation, they believe that the threat actors have access to the same data tables that were originally compromised. These data tables include student and staff names, contact information, social security numbers (limited student social security numbers), birthdays, medical notes, passwords (limited) and parent/guardian information. NCDPI has already notified appropriate law enforcement agencies, who are actively investigating this incident. We want to assure you that your Stokes County Schools and NCDPI have done everything possible to protect this information. PowerSchool, the vendor responsible for the incident, has taken full responsibility for the breach and is providing support services for those impacted. What You Need to Know: Please do not open any suspicious links or emails related to this incident. - Do not engage with anyone claiming to have this data. - PowerSchool is offering two years of free identity protection and credit monitoring to all affected students and educators through July 1, 2025. NCDPI is advocating for this window to be extended further to ensure everyone has time to enroll. Affected individuals can enroll in identity protection and credit monitoring at no cost to themselves here --> https://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/ Services include: - Two years of complimentary identity protection for all students and educators affected - Two years of complimentary credit monitoring for all adult students and educators affected These services are available regardless of whether an individual's Social Security number was compromised. Additional protection: Impacted users can freeze their identity for free through the North Carolina Department of Justice. LINK: https://ncdoj.gov/protecting-consumers/protecting-your-identity/free-security-freeze/ As we continue to work through this incident, we are committed to supporting students, families and staff with transparency and care. Sincerely, Phillip Bradley Rice, Ed.D. Superintendent Stokes County Schools
