Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. This week is FFA Week at South Stokes. This week our students will celebrate the Future Farmers of America, one of our largest student organizations. This week we will begin our Saura PRIDE Flex period as we gear up for the ACT on March 19th and the 4th quarter. We will be having our Flex period on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. On Wednesday, select students will be taking the WorkKeys, CCRAA 11, & NC Extend 1 assessments. Also on Wednesday we will be having a School Improvement Team meeting in room D3, after school. Good luck to our Quiz Bowl team as they compete this Saturday, February 28th. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Izabella Guessford. Izabella is a phenomenal student who takes pride in her work and always stays on top of her game! She is a strong advocate for herself and her learning! . Thank you Izabella, for your kindness and leadership. This week in Saura Sports, Congratulations to Saura wrestlers Sawyer Scott, Linkin Vanrijsewijk and Wyatt Tilley on their performances at the State Wrestling Tournament. Wyatt placed 3rd in the state, and Linkin placed 4th in their respective weight classes. Congratulations also goes to our Men's Basketball team on achieving their 5th consecutive Conference Championship. On Tuesday, girls basketball will host South Stanley in the first round of the state playoffs at 7:00pm. On Wednesday baseball and soccer travel to Bethany Community as we begin our spring sports season. On Thursday, men's basketball will be hosting the second round of the state tournament at South Stokes, opponent to be determined. On Friday, baseball hosts McMichael. Hello Sauras, this is Principal Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. Due to winter weather conditions, Stokes County Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, February 2, 2026. I hope all of our Saura families are staying safe, warm, and enjoying the snow!. We have used the last remote learning days, please make sure students have completed their assignments from last week. This week's events and athletic contests are subject to change due to the weather. On Wednesday, we will be having FAFSA Night at South Stokes from 5:30 - 7:00. This is a great opportunity to have assistance in completing the FAFSA for seniors that are planning on going to college. South Stokes will be hosting a Winter Formal on Saturday, February 7th. Tickets will be $20, and can be purchased online via school cash online. Tickets can also be purchased in the main office and at the door on the night of the event. Outside date forms can be found in the main office. The Formal will begin at 7pm and will be at South Stokes. This week in Saura Sports, congratulations to Jamier Davis, Brooke Burroughs, and Jaylin Craig for qualifying for the state indoor track meet. On Tuesday indoor track competes at JDL and the wrestling team travels to South Stanley for the first round of the state Duals Tournament. On Wednesday, basketball travels to South Davidson. I hope all of our Saura families will be safe and warm as this winter storm passes through our community. This week's events and athletic contests are subject to change due to the weather. On Tuesday, we will be having a school improvement team meeting in room D7 at 3:30. Looking ahead, South Stokes will be hosting a Winter Formal on Saturday, February 7th. Tickets will be $20, and can be purchased online beginning this Friday, January 30th via school cash online. Tickets can also be purchased in the main office and at the door on the night of the event. Outside date forms can be found in the main office. The Formal will begin at 7pm and will be at South Stokes. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Kaylee Oakley. Kaylee always attends band booster meetings to be involved with improving our band program without being asked. Thank you Kaylee, for your kindness and leadership.
